Syndicate Legal Advisory Services prepares a written agreement between two people planning to marry from terms they tell us they have already agreed on.
What’s included:
- Jurisdiction table check. Using our state table, we give the client the state’s own published information on prenup requirements (writing, disclosure, counsel, minimum review period, notarization or witnesses, and treatment of support and death-right waivers).
- Intake and information gathering. A structured questionnaire records the client’s own statements: both parties’ names and addresses, the planned wedding date and place, the states where each lives, children from prior relationships, and the reason the parties want an agreement as the client states it.
- Wedding timeline check. We record the planned wedding date and the date the final draft will be delivered, and give a neutral notice that short review periods can make an agreement unenforceable. If the wedding is closer than the state’s published minimum review period, or within a short window set by our policy, the service stops.
- Agreed-terms worksheet (both parties). Each party completes and signs a worksheet stating, in their own words, the terms they have agreed on: which assets and debts are separate or shared, how income and appreciation are treated, and any other term they choose. We do not suggest, recommend, or fill in terms.
- Disclosure schedules (each party’s figures). We prepare each party’s own lists of assets, debts, income, and accounts, from that party’s documents, with no valuation, characterization, or advice. Each party reviews and signs their own schedule, and each is warned in writing that an incomplete schedule can void the agreement.
- Agreement preparation. From the signed worksheet and schedules, we prepare the agreement in the state’s required format and a standard structure, with the parties’ terms stated as they wrote them.
- Review period record. We record the date each party received the final draft and the date each signed, so both can see how much time passed.
- Signing packet. We prepare signature pages and any notarial acknowledgment or witness blocks the state requires. Each party signs personally. We do not sign, witness, or notarize, and we recommend signing well before the wedding.
- Document organizer. We organize each party’s own documents (deeds, account statements, tax returns, loan documents, business records, and existing agreements) into a labeled file.
- Review and revisions. We make revisions you request to the typed documents before signing, within the review rounds in your package, only where both parties confirm the change in writing. Substantive changes restart the review period record.
