Syndicate Legal Advisory Services organizes the client’s vehicle and repair records and prepares the client’s official complaint forms and a written notice(s) to the manufacturer.

What’s included:

  • Safety check. If the client reports a defect involving steering, brakes, airbags, stalling, fire, or loss of control, we give the client a written safety notice recommending that the client have the vehicle inspected and consult the dealer or a lawyer before continuing to drive. We do not advise on whether to drive.
  • Stop-screen (mandatory, before any preparation). A neutral written questionnaire asks the client the items listed in Drafting Notes. A “yes” or “unsure” ends the service for that item and we refer the client to a consumer or lemon law attorney.
  • Jurisdiction table check. Using our state table, we give the client the state’s own published description of its lemon law, covered vehicles, notice requirements, and any required dispute program. We do not decide whether the client’s vehicle qualifies.
  • Intake and information gathering. A structured questionnaire records the client’s own statements: the vehicle’s year, make, model, and VIN, the purchase or lease date and place, the delivery date, the odometer reading at delivery and now, whether it was bought new or used or leased, the warranty provided, and the names and addresses of the dealer, manufacturer, and lender or lessor as printed in the client’s documents.
  • Repair history organization. From the client’s own repair orders and invoices, we create a chronological index showing, for each visit, the date, the dealer, the odometer, the complaint as written on the repair order, the days the vehicle was at the shop, and the repair order number. We copy the entries from the documents exactly and do not interpret, characterize, or count “attempts.”
  • Client chronology. The client writes, or dictates, a timeline of what happened.
  • Document organizer. We organize the client’s own documents (purchase or lease contract, window sticker, warranty booklet, repair orders, communications with the dealer and manufacturer, photographs, and payment records) into a labeled file.
  • Written notice to the manufacturer. If the client requests, we prepare a written notice to the manufacturer describing the vehicle, the defects as stated on the repair orders, and the repair history, using the manufacturer’s address from the warranty booklet. The client reads, signs, and sends it by a method with proof of delivery.
  • Agency and program complaint forms. If the client requests, we prepare the client’s own answers on the forms of the state attorney general, the state consumer protection agency, the manufacturer’s or state’s dispute program, and NHTSA, from the client’s statements. The client reviews, signs, and submits.
  • Information request (optional). We prepare the client’s request to the dealer or manufacturer for repair records or technical service bulletins, signed and sent by the client.
  • Filing and delivery packet. We provide instructions and checklists for the client to deliver documents with proof of delivery, keep copies, and keep a record of contacts. We do not contact the manufacturer, dealer, lender, or any agency for the client.
  • After-submission checklist. A neutral list, from public agency guidance, of what the client may receive: an acknowledgment, an inspection request, a repair offer, a dispute program hearing notice, a repurchase offer, or a denial.
  • Review and revisions. We make revisions you request to the typed documents before signing, within the review rounds in your package.
